To Whom It May
Concern:
It is my pleasure to
recommend Ian Harvie to you. Ian was recommended to me as a
performer by a friend who had seen her perform in and around the
Greater Portland area for an event I was hosting at the
University of Southern Maine, known as Vulvapalooza.
Vulvapalooza is an annual event that takes place at USM, and is
usually held the day before the University’s production of the
Vagina Monologues opens. The event is put together by USM's
Women’s Resource Center and serves both as a celebration of the
Vagina Monologues, an additional fundraiser for the local
charities that we benefit, and as a tool to raise awareness
about sexual assault and domestic violence in the university
community.
When I contacted Ian, I
was shocked by her immediate enthusiasm and interest to work on
this project with me. She manages to be both excited and casual,
all while still maintaining a strong air of professionalism,
which is a really unique line to walk. This position makes Ian
very approachable and responsive to criticism, while still
quietly demanding respect and instilling a sense of trust that
guarantees you that you’re going to get everything you paid for
and more. Ian Harvie is a total pleasure to work with, willing
to meet in the middle to make sure goals are reached, and most
importantly, is utterly hilarious.
Ian’s act, in
conjunction with two other local comedians, undoubtedly was the
hit of our Vulvapalooza production. She had the audience in
stitches the entire time. After the show and throughout the next
week, various people approached me to tell me how much they
enjoyed the festival, and almost every person that did mentioned
how great they thought Ian was. The best thing about Ian’s act
is that she uses intellect as a source of entertainment; her act
is both witty and obviously well thought-out. Ian doesn’t access
humor through clichés, everything she says is funny as a result
of the originality of her own creative mind.
As a result of Ian
Harvie’s impressive performance and pleasant professionalism,
The Women’s Center is currently in the process of organizing
another event at which Ian will be a guest at. I have already
highly recommended her to organizations all over our campus, and
am
completely delighted to recommend her to you at this time. To
pass up an
opportunity to showcase Ian Harvie at your event would truly be
an unfortunate loss.
Sincerely,
Morgan Demers
